Organizing and Storing Lego!

I was mindlessly going through random blogs and sites on Saturday after Black Friday and found out that Wal-mart had Lego and/or Duplo bundle for $30!
650 pcs of Lego for $15 each was not a bad deal at all in this lego-novice's mind!
I was about to order a bundle through internet but my excited lego-fanatic husband wanted to run out to wal-mart right away. So we quickly put something warm on both honeybees and went to wal-mart.

And we came back hone with lots of stuff for Christmas and 3 of these:

We originally got the 3rd one for Sweet Boy's friend's birthday but we already found something else because my (once again, lego-fanatic) husband wanted to keep ALL 3!

650 pcs doesn't look too many because there are so many tiny tiny tiny tiny pieces.

I knew I quickly had to find a solution to store and organize these pieces because:
1. So many little pieces from previous sets have unfortunately ended up in our vacuum,
2. When Sweet Boy asks me to make something for him, I can't find any piece I want and it ends up with him doing something else with his interest long gone since I take too long to make things,
3. I like when everything has its own place. :)

So when I saw this Snap n Stack set from Snapware at Target, I knew right away that this was the solution for all the lego problem.

(I got too excited and took the package apart as soon as I got home, but this is what the paper packaging looks like.)
I got 2 sets. Each set contains a lid with handle and 4 snapping-together containers.
It is 6" x 9" and 2" high. I have never seen this size before. I think it might be seasonal limited item.
I found the same one on Amazon but it's almost twice the price. It was $7.99 at Target.

And I started sorting.

Then my husband thought it looked fun so he joined me as well.
So there we were, sitting side by side at Sweet Boy's table sorting lego pieces while both honeybees are sound asleep. This is our idea of spending fun and intimate time. :)

Nicely organized!
We bought a yellow delivery truck set before so we have lot more yellow pieces than any other color.
I think there are about 2000 pieces all together and still have room for more.
I love that you don't have to take everything apart to get to the section you want.
3-year-old Sweet Boy has no problem putting it together and opening it.
He loves the handle on the top and he carries the entire box all around the house.

And you can separate them into different height! So it will fit into almost any kind of space.

I think it will be a nice storage solution for jigsaw puzzles as well.
I'm running out to Target to snatch more of these! :)
