It's been a month since we came to California.
We are here for 2 more weeks and will be going back home in New Jersey.
There are few toys here (lego, interlocking blocks, robots and a set of puzzle) but those are not what occupy the honeybees.
It's amazing how they are not 'bored' here.
We have tons, and I mean TONS, of toys back home and still Sweet Boy constantly gets bored playing by himself and wants to play with me. I try my best to spend as much time as possible with him but it surprises me how he never 'bothers' me here.
Only places I take the kids are library (once a week) and a local indoor playground (once a week).
Most of times they spend the time here at my parents' house.
Sweet Boy freely goes out to the backyard -it is fenced in- whenever he wants to and rides bicycle, play in the playhouse, and occasionally asks permission to play in the inflatable pool (of course under my watch).
Happy Girl tags along whenever Sweet Boy goes out because she hasn't yet to acquire the skill of turning the doorknob.
Yesterday, they played in my dad's pickup truck.
For like... 30 minutes!
I don't know what intrigues them so much but they just stayed in there.
They both played in the pool for a bit so that explains the rashguards.
She found a toy chicken in the truck.
When they are not outside, of course they spend time running around the house.
Here Happy Girl found a set of keys and trying to 'unlock' and open the doors.
On another day, they 'helped' watering a tiny patch of exposed land in back of our backyard.
Interestingly, the lack of toys and abundunt time actually made Sweet Boy to be more creative too. His latest favorite toy is a box of jenga. He uses like manipulative blocks and builds many different things. Most of them are unrecognizable but he explains his creation and share the stories behind them. These simple days are really helping all of us to get ready for yet another busy school year and I am more than grateful for such time. It helps the kids to relax and be themselves. Also the family time and organic routines heal our spirit.
